The Art of Giving Back

Image
The Art of Giving Back Have you ever thought of giving or charity as an area that can be part of your goal setting every year? I came across this idea from someone on Facebook and decided to give it some deeper thought.   If you have my CELEBRATE YOU planner, you will have seen the 7 guiding areas for goal setting which are: - 1) Spiritual Nourishment 2) Personal development 3) Finances and Wealth 4) Family & relationships 5) Career or business 6) Health & wellness 7) Lifestyle and happiness   Whilst these 7 areas are awesome....I thought that a good addition as an 8th area would be Giving back or Charity. Why ....you may wonder? You see, many of us hardly spend time giving back   CONSISTENTLY  in our lives. By giving back, I don't necessarily mean giving money or material things. There are many forms of giving e.g. You can give back using your skills, talents or passions. If we look even more deeply, very few of us set goals to achieve in this area on a yearly basis. It

BLOOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED...Is it even possible and if so HOW?

Image
BLOOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED...Is it even possible and if so HOW? This is a phrase I have come to love and say often. It sounds pretty easy but what does it really mean in its true essence? Is it even possible? Sometimes in life, we find ourselves planted in what we perceive as the "wrong place". Perhaps the "soil" where you have been planted seems too dark or too soft, too hard, rocky, filled with silt, saline, lacking the required nutrients or perhaps even too dry and perched. It could even be that the location of this "farm" where you were planted is the problem. It just doesn't sit right with you. Sometimes, these issues may be real or just a figment of our imagination or perception. The dicey part is this. For one reason or another....you cannot be transplanted elsewhere as yet. In fact, if you are moved at the wrong time...that could very well be the end of you! All would collapse or be lost. So what can one do to endure the season during which

Law of Reciprocity

Image
THE LAW OF RECIPROCITY "Abundance is a dance with Reciprocity - What we can give, what we can share and what we receive in the process" -Terry Tempest Williams A certain situation last week got me to ponder about this law more deeply. The law simply means that "If you do something nice for me, I will do something nice for you in return". Or the vice versa. In legal terms, this is usually termed or referred to as "quid pro quo". Human nature in itself can be very selfish. Many times, we are eager to have people do things for us whereas we are not willing to do the same for them. We want that friend to come see us but we never make an effort to go over to their place. We want to be loaned money but we never loan others. We want others to read our content but we never bother with theirs. We want customers but we don't support other people's businesses. We want people to contribute to our causes, problems or issues whilst we are never bothered when o

POWERFUL WAYS TO USE YOUR NO!

Image
POWERFUL WAYS TO USE YOUR NO! NO! Granted...No is not the easiest word to say for some people because it has always been associated with a lot of negativity. But we know deep down that isn't the truth. NO is one of the most powerful words in our vocabulary! Here are some powerful ways to use your NO. - Say NO to timewasters. These are things that you do but really do not add much value in your life. It could be too much time on Social media or watching Netflix, going out clubbing excessively or too much gossiping with your girls (a little never hurt anyone ). It could also be spending less time with people who add NO value or worth to our lives. Instead, you can look at replacing such activities with learning something new. E.g. crocheting, a new recipe, a new sport or simply spending more time where it is valued and will have a higher return like with your children. - Say NO to negative energy, thoughts and vibes. Evaluate the people and situations in your life and just share no t

THE HIGHER SELF

Image
THE HIGHER SELF Who or what is the higher SELF? Sounds somewhat strange but let me break it down as I have understood it for myself. There is the person you are today and there is the person in you that has the potential to be better than the you physically manifesting TODAY. The higher self is where our God-given gifts, talents, abilities, ....the fabric of our unique being lies. In life...there are people who easily access and become this higher self (or come close) and there are others who struggle and are not even aware that part of themselves even exists. The higher self is not a destination to be reached but rather a state of hightened awareness or consciousness in the journey towards continuous improvement, bettering oneself and reaching our highest level of potential. This higher self is also where our gut instinct lies...that special intuition that we all have and is the part of us that is most spiritually aware. What happens if we are not in tune with this part of ourselves

F.E.A.R.S.

Image
F.E.A.R.S We all have them. Some are good, some are bad, some really unhealthy, some unreasonable whilst some are really helpful. The key is to distinguish between them all. Some fears we have are just simply ridiculous...like I once met someone with a fear of big feet. So they would basically avoid looking down at people's feet lest they come across a size 14 foot or something. Why? They really had no explanation for it. Then we have the usual fears of height, water, spiders, snakes, the dark, white or black people, certain tribes, roaches, lizards, insects, the boogie man or as we were told as kids "kimundu". In fact, as a child, this was phrase often used to cajole me into eating cos I was a poor feeder (I know...don't laugh...no one has to convince me to eat now going by my size ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜œ) so I would be told to swallow my food quickly or else the "Kimundu" (monster) would come for me! These kind of fears are many times irrational and are only based on our
